Vancouver Island Quest - Segger sets a new record
Written by Jen Segger Created Date: Tuesday, 15 September 2009 00:00nuun-Feed-the-Machine athlete and i2P ambassador Jen Segger set out on a personal adventure at the end of August. Driven with determination, Segger became the 1st person to cover the entire length of Vancouver Island on the west coast of BC in 4 days none-stop. The route chosen took Jen and her crew from the most northern point on the Island (Cape Scott Lighthouse) down to the southern tip (mile zero in Victoria) a distance of over 750km. Jen planned to run the Island's most well known trails including the Cape Scott Trail, Strathcona's Mount Albert Edward and the West Coast Trail. These trail systems were linked together by mountain biking the logging roads that connected them. Faced with sleep deprivation and bad weather, the crew pushed onwards, stopping for a total of 4hrs of sleep. The quest was followed live on the internet through the use of SPOT.
