May 2nd 2009, Capital Forest Washington
For many years, we have traveled to Capital Forest and used its many miles of trails as one of our primary training grounds for beautiful
singletrack riding and running. These trails don't maintain themselves. They are maintained by volunteers as a part of Friends of Capital Forest.
Trioba Adventure Racing which is owned by nuun-FTM team members Glenn Rogers, Ryan VanGorder, Jen Vangorder and Aaron Rinn, offered race discounts for anybody who came out to our trails day. In addition, Trioba provided lunch and free schwag including nuun.
We joined the existing group and ended up with about 30 total volunteers for the day. We spent the day decommissioning old trails and regrading and spreading gravel on a reroute of Greenline 6. We spent the morning and afternoon working on the trails and after lunch we went for a ride in the forest.
We will have another trail maintenance day this summer. We encourage all to come out and help maintain the trails we ride. Not only will you benefit from your work, but also you will get a discounted race entry, free lunch, and maybe even some schwag and a fun afternoon ride.
